1. Give any two reasons why Salvador Allende was overthrown by
military coup.
Ans. Two reasons are:-
i) After being elected as the president, he had taken many policies to help the poor and the workers which was opposed by the landlords, Church and some political parties.
ii) United States was unhappy about the Allende’s rule so it supported the coup.
2. Answer the following:-
i) Who was the Military leader who started the coup in Chile?
ii) Name the general who opposed him.
Ans. i) General Alberto Pinochet.
ii)General Alberto Bachelet
3. What is a referendum? What was the result of the referendum on 1988 by Pinochet?
Ans. A referendum is a direct vote where an entire electorate is asked to vote either for or against a particular proposal. The result of referendum of 1988 was that Pinochet was overthrown and democracy was established in Chile.
4. Who was the daughter of Alberto Bachelet? What was her profession?
Ans. Michelle Bachelet was the daughter of Alberto Bachelet. She was a medical doctor in profession
5. Give two measures introduced by the Polish United Workers’ Party in 1980.
Ans. Two measures introduced are :-
i) No political party is allowed to function.
ii) The people cannot freely elect the leaders of the communist party or government.
6. In which city and port the strike started in Poland? What was the demand?
Ans. Strike started in Lenin port of Gdansk in Poland. The demand was to take back the crane operator who was unjustly dismissed.
7. Give any two demand of workers when Walesa became their leader.
Ans. Two demands when Walesa was the leader are :-
i) Right to form independent trade unions
ii) Release of political prisoners and end on censorship on press.

ii) Name the general who imposed the martial law in 1981 in Poland.

Ans. Two feature are :-

10. What was the problem in Myanmar?
Ans. The problem with Myanmar was that after getting independence Myanmar’s democratic rule ended with a military coup and after 30 years when election was held and Aung San Su Kyi was elected as leaders she was held under house of arrest by military leaders.
11. Give two reason why can’t UNO called a democratic organization.
Ans. Two reasons are :-
i) There are 15 countries in security council and 10 of them are permanent and given the veto power.
ii) The president of world bank has always been a citizen of the US, conventionally nominated by treasury secretary of US government.
12. Give any two points about the thing done by US in Iraq which was illegal.
Ans. Two point are :-
I) US and its allies invaded Iraq and occupied it.
II) It removed Saddam Hussein and installed an interim government of its preference.
